Water Charges Collection by WUAs fruitful says S.M. Patil

Since 2003, Water Management has been entrusted to eligible WUCs. Water will be supplied to every WUCs on a volumetric supply. Water is allocated to each WUCs based on the available water, tentative rainfall based on the time series data, and the indent placed by the WUCs in the command area. In Ghataprabha project, four out of six WUCs in one distributary canal is successfully implementing the water management and collecting water charges.

Understanding Water Conflicts

A study on Understanding Water Conflicts - 20 cases of water conflicts in South India ranging from sluice level to interstate water conflicts was  carried out by Pragathi - Farmers Society for Rural Studies and Development, Bangalore and supported by WWF-International - ICRISAT Dialogue Project. Mr. R. Doraiswamy and Dr Bikshum Gujja succesfully completed the study and published the flier of the same in 2004. Mr. R. Doraiswamy was Executive Director - Pragathi and is currently E.D, JalaSpandana. Dr. Bikshum Gujja is Policy Advisor, Global Fresh Water Programme, WWF-International.
